Di Hill, one of BWIB’s founding members will guides us through tips of why and how and maximising the benefits of networking.

A fun filled event, where you will have the opportunity to meet and introduce yourself to everyone in the room, with networking activities on the day.

Activities that will have you moving around the room, introducing yourself to many different people. All while the clock will be ticking !

This event will be guaranteed to be full of laughter and giggles with amazing like minded people all coming together with one goal in mind – Networking and meeting everyone in the room.

Di Hil is a fantastic networker. It has been a β€œnatural” gift – for she has been able to meet and work with many folk in her career, and keeps making interesting connections!

She was born in Adelaide but soon found her way to Brisbane more than 40 years ago with a husband and two children. With no family or friends in the state, she set out to make friends and meet people so she would not be alone and lonely all the time. Was this the beginning of her networking learning?

After the solo life as a registered nurse, working shifts day or night, she soon ventured into a daytime position – in sales in the health industry and learned very quickly to make contact with the key people who were the decision makers and people who could help.

Soon she heard of Robyn Henderson, who wrote a book called β€œNetworking to Win”, and soon met her. Di loved the book and learned so much from it that she started a business called The NetWorking Advantage, which held breakfast and other events around Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast for people in small businesses, which continued for around a year before Di had to rush to Adelaide when her father became ill and take on some family caring responsibilities.

Several years later, after moving to the Wynnum area, she started regular functions (mostly breakfast events) for women in business in the region, which eventually became The Bayside Women in Business.

Di tries to retire but these days is heavily involved in several organisations – mostly in the housing and homeless sector, and in issues for older women. She does some public speaking and writing and helps people write their own life stories.

She never goes without a handful of business or name cards and still uses her networking skills regularly.
